Match Kit Requirements

A team’s match kit must meet certain requirements to ensure player safety, consistency, and clear identification on the pitch.

Team Kit

  • All outfield players on a team must wear the same colours and design, with the exception of the goalkeeper.
  • The kit must be clearly different from the opposition’s kit and the referee’s kit.

⚽️

Shirt

  • Players must wear a shirt with sleeves. Both short sleeves and long sleeves are permitted.
  • Shirts must have clearly visible numbers on the back. The numbers must contrast with the colour of the shirt and be easy to read.
  • This allows the referee to clearly identify players when awarding a goal, booking, or sending-off, or when recording a foul.

⚽️

Shorts

  • Standard football shorts must be worn.
  • If thermal shorts or compression/sliding shorts are worn underneath, they must be the same main colour as the football shorts.
  • As stated in the Outfit guidelines, light-coloured shorts are not permitted for female players.

NO GO!

⚽️

Socks

  • Football socks are compulsory and must completely cover the shin guards.
  • Tape or any other material worn externally around the socks must be the same colour as the socks.

⚽️

Shin Guards

  • Shin guards are compulsory and must provide adequate protection.
  • They must be worn throughout the entire match.

⚽️

Football Boots

  • Players must wear football boots suitable for the playing surface.

⚽️

Jewellery

  • All jewellery is prohibited and must be removed before the match.
  • Covering jewellery with tape is not officially permitted.

⚽️

Hair

  • Long hair must be tied back and may not be worn loose during the match.
