Free Kick
There are several types of fouls that can result in a free kick.
⚽️
In football, a free kick is a way of restarting play after a foul outside the penalty
area. Opponents must remain at least 9.15 metres away from the ball, which must
be stationary when the free kick is taken.
⚽️
The defending team may form a wall during a free kick, making it more difficult to
score. The wall must be at least 9.15 metres away from the ball.
Penalty
Penalty
A penalty, also known as a penalty kick, is a type of free kick awarded when an
opponent commits a foul inside their own penalty area.
The ball is placed on the penalty mark and must be stationary before the penalty is
taken.
If the penalty taker accidentally touches the ball twice, for example after slipping,
and the ball goes directly into the goal, the penalty must be retaken.
If the ball does not go into the goal after a double touch, the opposing team is
awarded an indirect free kick.
The goalkeeper must remain on the goal line until the ball is kicked.
At the moment the penalty is taken, the goalkeeper must have at least one foot
on, level with, or behind the goal line.
Teammates and opponents must remain outside the penalty area and the penalty
arc until the ball has been kicked and clearly moves.
After a draw in the knockout stage, a penalty shoot-out takes place, with each
team initially taking five penalties.
At the highest levels of the game, VAR reviews incidents involving the awarding or
non-awarding of a penalty and the subsequent taking of the penalty.

Throw-In
A throw-in is awarded when the ball completely crosses the touchline.
⚽️
When taking a throw-in, hold the ball correctly with both hands, with your fingers
spread and your thumbs pointing towards each other.
Make sure both feet are on the ground and behind or on the touchline.
⚽️
Throw the ball to a free teammate.
Ideally, the ball should be thrown forwards. If all players in that direction are
already marked by an opponent, throw the ball backwards to a free teammate.
Corner
Corner Kick
A corner kick, also known as a corner, is a way of restarting play awarded to the
attacking team when the ball crosses the goal line after being last touched by a
defending player. A corner can also be awarded if the goalkeeper holds the ball
for more than eight seconds.
The ball is taken from the corner area next to the corner flag.
⚽️
Opponents must remain at least 9.15 metres away from the ball.
⚽️
It is possible to score directly from a corner kick.
⚽️
The corner taker may not touch the ball a second time until another player has
touched it.
⚽️
The corner flags are the flags positioned at the four corners of the pitch.
The corner flag may not be removed when taking a corner kick.
⚽️
Approximately 3.5% of corner kicks result in a goal, highlighting the importance of
a well-executed corner.
⚽️
A corner kick can be taken in several different ways.
⚽️
A Short Corner
Instead of crossing the ball directly into the penalty area, the ball is played short to a
teammate positioned outside the penalty area.
⚽️
A Short-Pass Corner
The ball is deliberately played to a teammate positioned near the edge of the
penalty area, rather than being crossed directly into the box.
⚽️
A Long Corner
The ball is played high and deep into the penalty area, with the aim of creating an
opportunity for a header.

Offside
Offside is a rule designed to prevent attacking players from simply staying close to
the opponent’s goal.
A player is offside if they are closer to the opponent’s goal line than both the ball
and the second-to-last opponent at the moment the ball is played by a teammate.
⚽️
There are, however, several exceptions to the offside rule.
If the player making the pass is beyond the last defender and you are behind the
ball, you are not offside. A player cannot be offside in their own half.
⚽️
A player who is in an offside position but does not touch the ball and does not
interfere with the goalkeeper is not penalised.
⚽️
You are not offside if you are behind the ball at the moment the pass is made.
⚽️
A player cannot be offside from a throw-in or corner kick.
⚽️
After an offside offence, the opposing team is awarded an indirect free kick.
